Abstract: | Technological developments are now increasingly rapidly driving the development of the industrial sector in the world, especially in the chemical industry. Anhydrous calcium sulfate is one of the chemicals that has a high import value of 23,276,834 tons. The high need for anhydrous calcium sulfate has not been matched by sufficient domestic supply. To meet domestic demand for anhydrous calcium sulfate, Indonesia still imports from Malaysia and China. The increasing need for anhydrous calcium sulfate makes this anhydrous calcium sulfate plant the potential to be established in Indonesia. This plant is designed with a production capacity of 287,000 tons/year with an operating time of 330 days/year. The raw material needed is 362,970.5883 tons/year of gypsum. The production process is divided into 4 stages, namely raw material storage, crushing, calcination, and product cooling. This plant will operate in Sampeyan, Gresik, East Java with an estimated start of operation in 2027. Based on the results of the evaluation of economic analysis, it can be concluded that the processing plant for anhydrous calcium sulfate from gypsum raw materials with a calcination process capacity of 287,000 tons/year is feasible to set up with details of Payment Out Time (POT) 3.9 years, Rate of Return (ROR) 30.48%, and Break Even Point (BEP) of 48.93%. |
