Abstract: Purpose: To report bacteria found in root canal teeth of patients with total pulp necrosis caused by caries Case Description: A 24-year-old, Female patient came to the Clinic of Conservative Dental and Oral Hospital Universitas Jember with a deep carious lesion in the lower right premolar (#45). Patients complain that the cavity is often filled with food, has swollen, is often sick, and has never been treated. Root canal treatment of #45 was planned based on a diagnosis of total pulp necrosis. Conventional preparation techniques are used with irrigating agents NaOCl 2.5% and sterile aquades. Sterilization with cresotin medicaments is needed to eliminate the remaining bacteria in the root canal. Conclusion: The result of bacterial identification showed a decrease in bacterial colonies around 90% in the sample before treatment compared to after the sterilization stage. The dominant bacteria found in the root canals of necrotic teeth are gram-negative facultative anaerobic bacteria.
