The quality of education plays a role in developing student learning outcomes and critical thinking skills so that they can respond to the challenges of the times and live a better life. The quality of education in Indonesia is currently experiencing a decline. The average percentage of students' critical thinking skills test results is 55% in the unfavorable category. The results of the teacher's needs assessment questionnaire show low student learning outcomes; students are less enthusiastic about learning; teachers do not use certain media and learning models to improve 21st century skills, so efforts are needed to overcome them. Efforts to overcome this by developing learning media. This study aims to describe story media with pictures that are valid, practical, and effective for learning natural sciences in junior high schools. This research is a research and development model of four-dimensional development by Thiagarajan et al. (1974). Based on data analysis, the average validation results of story media with pictures are 94% included in the very valid category. The average practicality test results for the implementation of learning are in the very good category, namely between 89% and 99%, with the results of the student response questionnaire being in the very good category. The results of the effectiveness test were categorized as effective with an average N-gain > 0.7, and students' critical thinking skills were in the good category. The N-Gain average of student learning outcomes is in the good category, with N-Gain results between 0.73 and 0.77. The average critical thinking skills are all in the good category, with an average of between 80.4% and 84.3%. Therefore, the learning media developed are valid, feasible, and effective for use to improve critical thinking skills and student learning outcomes.en_US
