This study attempts to explain how The Famished Road represents racial discrimination through narrative events in the novel. This research has several objectives to be achieved. The first objective is to explore the discourse of representation theory through narrative events in the novel. The last objective is to show the reader how critical the author's position is regarding the representation of racial discrimination through the novel. This study uses the theory of representation by Stuart Hall and some articles on the issue of racial discrimination that occurs in Nigeria to validate the data. Based on the results of an analysis of representations of racial discrimination in the novel The Famished Road by Ben Okri, this novel represents the racial discrimination experienced by Nigerian society during the colonial period. Nigerian society as a colonized stronghold experiences many forms of discrimination. Residential segregation and slavery are examples of racial discrimination which are the topics raised in this novel. In addition to the practice of racial discrimination, Okri also describes moments of social resistance against racial discrimination in the novel, starting from the loss of public trust in the authorities to rebellion to fight for justice. This research shows that this novel is a powerful critique of how social hierarchies and prejudices continue to divide people and perpetuate inequality and injustice. Through vivid depictions of marginalized and oppressed characters, Okri challenges readers to confront the reality of racism and work towards creating more equal society.en_US
