Revealing the Politeness Strategies Used by the Characters in Miracles from Heaven Movie Script

Abstract

This study discusses about the Politeness Strategies used by the chosen characters in Miracles from Heaven Movie. The main goal of this research is to investigate the used of Politeness Strategies and the effect of the use of Politeness Strategies by the chosen characters. The data is analyzed under Politeness Strategies theory by Brown and Levinson (1987). There are four politeness strategies that are classified by Brown and Levinson, they are Bald on Record, Positive Politeness, Negative Politeness and Off Record. This result finding shows that the most dominant politeness strategy used was Positive Politeness.
