Abstract: Writing anxiety in English as a foreign language is a matter experienced by majoring EFL students. Writing anxiety can lead to bad performance or bad grades on the students writing. This study investigated the EFL students’ anxiety in writing in English by finding its level and types. This study used a descriptive design with questionnaires as the method of collecting the data. The Likert-type questionnaire was derived from the Second Language Writing Anxiety Inventory. The population of this study was the active students in the fifth semester of English Education Study Program and 15% of the total population were taken as the sample. The findings showed that the students felt anxious in writing in English and their anxiety level was at a moderate level. Furthermore, the main type of anxiety experienced by the students in this study was cognitive anxiety.
