dc.description.abstractThis study discusses how rape culture pictured in Barbara Dee’s Maybe he Just Likes You. Data is in the form of narrative quotes in the novel then analyzed using Hall's representation theory. The meaning is constructed through language that is analyzed using constructionist methods. To understand the author's critical point of view, Foucault's discursive technique applied to link the cultural discourse of rape culture within the novel with the context of reality. This research is a qualitative research which data are in the form of dialogue and narrative in the novel, relevant information used to support the analysis. The results of this study show how rape culture pictured in the novel and the factors behind the existence of the rape culture itself. From this research, it was found the occurrence of rape culture depicted through characters in novels.en_US
