Abstract: | Red chili plants (Capsicum annuum L.) include cultivated plants that are widely used by farmers. The harvest of red chili plants does not always provide high yields. This is due to the attack of plant-disrupting organisms, one of which is the root-knot nematode. Damage caused by root-knot nematode attacks can cause heavy losses. One of the parasitic nematodes that attack red chili plants is Meloidogyne spp. The control carried out by farmers in overcoming Meloidogyne spp. attacks are by using nematicides. Nematicides are considered effective in controlling Meloidogyne spp. and provide high yields. The continuous use of nematicides can actually make the pest more resistant, so there needs to be an alternative solution to overcoming Meloidogyne spp. attack, namely by using endophytic bacteria. This study aimed to determine the types of endophytic bacteria that have the potential to control Meloidogyne spp. The research was conducted at the Biology Education Laboratory, University of Jember. The method used in this research is explorative. The data obtained were adjusted to the book Cowan and Steel (2003) and analyzed descriptively. The results showed that there were 3 genera of endophytic bacteria that have the potential as biological control agents of Meloidogyne spp. namely the genus Bacillus, Staphylococcus, and Listeria. |
