Abstract: | The motivation to heal in tuberculosis patients has decreased due to the length of treatment, the number of drugs consumed, the lack of attention from the family to the patient's condition, and the presence of negative stigma from society. Therefore, spirituality is needed to overcome various problems, maintain health and well-being and adapt to illness. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between spirituality and motivation to heal in tuberculosis patients. The study was a correlational descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 85 respondents were involved in the study using a consecutive sampling technique. Data were collected using the Daily Spiritual Experience Scale (DSES) and Client Motivation Therapy Scale (CMOTS) questionnaires and analyzed using Spearmen's rank with a significant level of 0.05. The results showed that the average spirituality was 74.58 (SD=10.825), and the median value of healing motivation was 77.00 (min-max=31-96). There was a significant positive correlation between spirituality and healing motivation in tuberculosis patients (p=0.040 and r=0.224). The existence of spirituality helps tuberculosis patients to form coping mechanisms for healing their illness. Nurses should provide holistic nursing care, including involving aspects of spirituality in the nursing care of tuberculosis patients to increase the patient's motivation to heal. |
