Abstract: The problems in this research are: (1) What is the background of the fishing community picking the sea ritual in Kedungrejo Village, Muncar District, Banyuwangi Regency in 2000? (2) What is the process of picking the sea ritual held by fishing communities in Kedungrejo Village, Muncar District, Banyuwangi Regency in 2000-2019?. The research method used is the topic selection, historical research method where the steps include heuristics, criticism, interpretation and histiography. The results of this study are to examine the background of the holding of the fishing community's sea-picking ritual in Kedungrejo Village, Muncar District, Banyuwangi Regency, this sea-picking ritual is a sacred ceremony for the Kedungrejo community which has been carried out for generations since 1901 as an expression of gratitude to God Almighty for the blessings of sustenance what they got. The process of carrying out the pick the sea ritual held by the fishing community in Kedungrejo Village has several stages of activity starting from the preparatory stage to closing. The function of picking the sea ritual for the fishing community of Kedungrejo Village is a form of gratitude and a means of getting closer to God Almighty.
