Abstract: Skincare plays an important role; especially, for women so there is significant growth in the market throughout the year for domestic and foreign brands. It is misused by irresponsible business actors by trading and producing skin care products that do not meet the BPOM (Food and Drug Supervisory Agency) requirements. This study aims to find out how the legal protection for consumers who use skincare that contains hazardous ingredients according to Law no. 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection for consumers. Moreover, the research method used in this study was a normative juridical research type using the legislation approach by examining legal issues through existing laws and regulations. The results of the study are in the form of arguments to solve the problem. In this case, the writer can reveal whether there is a consistency between the laws governing the existing legal issues and the Conceptual Approach in the views or doctrines of legal science. The result of the study indicates that there are 2 (two) legal protections for consumers that are internal legal protection and external legal protection. Internal legal protection is in the form of an agreement so that the parties can create their legal protection according to the agreement. Meanwhile, external legal protection is the protection that comes from the legislation.
