Abstract: Foot care behavior is essential to prevent complications in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. However, the implementation of foot care behavior is still relatively poor. This study aimed to analyze the effect of sociodemographic factors on foot care behavior in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in Jember Regency. This research was an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The dependent variable was foot care behavior, and the independent variables were sociodemographic characteristics of age, gender, education level, income level, marital status, ethnicity, and family type. The sampling technique was multistage random sampling with 130 respondents. Data were collected using a sociodemographic questionnaire and the Nothingham Assessment of Functional Footcare (NAFF) Questionnaire and analyzed by logistic regression ordinal. This study found an influence of income level on foot care behavior (p-value of 0.019). Poor foot care was found in respondents with an income level of ≤ regional minimum wages. This condition is due to the high busyness of respondents in working, so they have limitations in accessing health services and do not take good care of their feet. Providing health education is important to increase awareness of diabetic patients about foot care, especially those whose income ≤ regional minimum wages, so that they can improve foot care behavior.
