Dialect in literary works acquaints new challenges for translators. In the fictional novel Tiger’s Voyage, one character with Jamaican English dialect is presented differently by the way of his speaking, so is in the Indonesian translation. Thus, this research aims to investigate the translation strategies applied on the Indonesian translation by rooting in Berezowski’s dialectical translation strategies, using the qualitative method. The result shows that six of ten translation strategies are applied with artificial variety as the most applied one. The application is based on the phonological and syntactic deviation contained in the data, yet the Indonesian translator chooses to keep the phonological deviation as the only modification remained. Impliedly, the Indonesian translation of Tiger’s Voyage stays allegiant to the source text where Jamaican English dialect is presented through the character, even though it is made artificially. Through the modification, however, the translation can still be comprehended by the target text readers. It is adjusted to the target language by adhering to domestication technique, hence anticipating the readers from worst confusion.en_US
