Kebijakan Akuisisi Saham PT Freeport Indonesia oleh Pemerintah Indonesia

Abstract

The policy of acquiring PT Freeport Indonesia's shares by the Indonesian government at the end of 2018 was a bold move. This is because Indonesia has long cooperated with Freeport Indonesia for many years, but why suddenly the acquisition of a majority stake in the company. So the author uses this paper to answer the reasons behind the acquisition of PT Freeport Indonesia shares by the Indonesian government. The author uses a research method in the form of a descriptive qualitative method. Based on the concept of economic nationalization and rational actor, the authors have found that the acquisition of PT Freeport Indonesia's shares is a policy to uphold the sovereignty of national natural resources and the choice of this policy is the most rational option. In addition, this acquisition process has the aim of resolving disputes and can also provide benefits for the Indonesian government in terms of economic income.
