Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic has a major impact on the physicological condition including anxiety. This level of anxiety can decrease if the elderly have good coping strategies. The aimed of this study was to analyze the correlation between coping strategies and elderly anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic at the Nursing Home of Jember. A cross-sectional study was used among 56 elderlies using total sampling. A self-administered questionnaire was used to identify the characteristics of the elderly. Data of cognitive function, coping strategies, and anxiety were measured using The Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE), Ways Of Coping and Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAM-A), respectively. The data were analyzed using the Chi-square test (p-value <0.05). The results showed that coping strategies among elders focused on problem-focused coping (71.4%) and mild anxiety (51.8%). There was a significant relationship between coping strategies and elderly anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic at the Nursing Home of Jember ( = 8.652; and p-value= 0.003). The conclusion of this study that coping strategies is related to elderly anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic at the Nursing Home of Jember. Therefore, the elderly is needed understand the importance of applying approriate coping strategies to reduce their anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic.
