Parents of children with mental retardation often experience higher levels of stress because of increased demands for childcare. Children with mental retardation have difficulty doing simple things like eating, dressing, toileting and cleaning themselves. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of spirituality with stress caring for mothers who have mental retardation children in SDLB BCD YPAC Kaliwates Jember. This research uses cross sectional method. The sampling technique used is total sampling with 34 respondents. Data collection was carried out using the Daily Spiritual Experience Scale (DSES) questionnaire and Parenting stress. Data analysis used the Kolmogorov Spirnov correlation test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that there was a relationship between spirituality and parental stress (p value = 0.009). High spirituality can affect the way parents accept the child's condition, deal with stress in parenting and family adaptation of the condition of children with disabilities. This research shows the importance of spirituality in the parents of children with mental retardation to reduce stress levels in childcare demands.en_US
