PENGARUH LATIHAN RANGE OF MOTION (ROM) TERHADAP PENINGKATAN RENTANG GERAK SENDI SIKU PADA PASIEN STROKE DI DESA ANDONGSARI KECAMATAN AMBULU KABUPATEN JEMBER

Abstract

Stroke is the 3 leading cause of death after cardiovascular disease and cancer. Stroke also the most common cause of disability in the world. The most complication in patients after their got stroke is contracture. Range of motion (ROM) exercise is one of stroke rehabilitation program. The research aim was to identify the effect of ROM exercise to improved the range of elbow joint motion. The design of this study was pre-experimental research with one group pretestposttest. This research used total sampling with the number of respondents was 14

patients.

The subjects were given ROM exercise one time a day for twenty days. Data analysis used dependent T test matched pairs test with α = 0,05. The result showed that the extension elbow joint range of motion was increase from 23 to 6,69 o and the flexion elbow joint range of motion was increase from 107,23 to 132 o . This study showed there was significant effect of ROM exercise to improved the range of elbow joint motion (p value=0,000, 95% CI). ROM of patients was increased with the mean of degree ROM for extention was 16,31 o and the flexion was 24,77 o . ROM exercise can be used to improve the range of elbow joint motion of patients with stroke by increased the movement of joint. The research recommend on the needs of further research and the use of this exercise as one of the independent nursing interventions in providing care to stroke patients with contracture.
