Bone is constantly remodeling which includes the process of bone formation and resorption. Osteoclast is a multinucleus cell that plays a role on bone resorption. Osteoclastogenesis is a complex process, which consists of the formation, differentiation, multinucleation, and activation of osteoclasts. Receptor Activator of Nuclear Factor κB Ligand (RANKL) is a cytokine that plays an important role in the process of osteoclastogenesis. Some treatments in dentistry involved the alveolar bone remodeling process. By studying the role of RANKL in osteoclastogenesis mechanism is expected to learn more about the molecular mechanisms associated with the treatment in dentistry, for example alveolar bone remodeling in orthodontic tooth movement and bone resorption in periodontal disease. So in the future, it can be developed the management of the disease.en_US
