dc.description.abstractPrison punishment is stressor that included in the psychosocial stressor, it change person's life, so individu is forced to hold the adaptation to mitigate stress. Individu who can’t adapt and cope with that stressor will be stress. One of physiological responses that arise from the stress condition of prisoners is insomnia. This study aims to determine the correlation betwen stress levels with the incidence of insomnia in prisoners at Penitentiary Class IIA Jember. This research used observational analytic method with cross sectional design with 76 respondents as sample. Sampling technique used purposive sampling. Collecting of data used questionnaires. Majority of prisoners who have severe stress are 33 people (43,4%) and majority of prisoners who get insomnia are 64 people (84.4%). Analyzed using Pearson Chi Square. Statistical analysis showed that the p value = 0.003 (p value < α = 0.05). It is shown that there is correlation between stress levels with incident of insomnia. The recommendation for this Penitentiary are hold activities of prisoners to decrease levels of stres such as management stress, entertaining activities and provide balanced nutritional diet for helping to repair the quality sleep of prisoners.en_US
