dc.description.abstractThe increasing population of elderly has recently become a focus of interest in developing countries because of increasing life expectancy. This research aims to compare elderly people’s quality of life based on their sosio demographic, sosio economic characteristic, health status and social participation. A cross-sectional study was conducted among 211 elderly aged 60 and over, who lived in Sumbersari sub-district Jember. Data were collected by using WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire from May to June, 2012. Statistics used for data analysis were Chi Square, Mann Whitney and Kruskal Wallis analysis. The study found 45.5% elderly had a good level of quality of life, followed by moderate (25.6%), poor (22.3%,) very good (4.7%) and very poor (1.9%). Data analysis showed a significant different of quality of life in ethnic variance, elderly’s integrated service participation and chronic disease variable. Also, according to quality of life domains, differences found almost in every variable. This result means that quality of life of elderly in Sumbersari Sub-district Jember was different according to their ethnic variance, elderly’s integrated service participation and chronic disease variable. Based on this research, health promotion throuh elderly integrated service and developing multi sector approach between department of health and departement of education need to be improved.en_US
